Are you a skilled chef with a passion for creating delicious and hearty pub meals? The Half Moon Inn is seeking a talented and experienced Pub Chef to join our team. If you have a flair for working independently, a love for local produce, and a knack for crafting simple yet outstanding dishes, we want to hear from you! Accommodation available.
The Half Moon Inn is a successful village pub in the heart of the beautiful Sussex village of Balcombe, there are excellent transport links with a railway station on the main London to Brighton line and the M23 is some 5 minutes away. In the 6 years of the current management's tenure an excellent reputation for its food has been built up and we are seeking an enthusiastic Chef to join our team and enhance this reputation. Working a 5 day week you will have had experience of running a kitchen with responsibility for ordering and menu creation. All food is prepared on the premises from scratch with the emphasis on pub classics & daily specials.
Responsibilities:
Menu Creation: Develop and execute a short yet enticing menu of well-cooked pub meals, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients.
Sunday Roasts: Showcase your culinary expertise by providing traditional and mouthwatering Sunday roasts, becoming a highlight for our patrons.
Independence: Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and creatively in a solo kitchen environment, managing all aspects of food preparation and service.
Pressure Handling: Thrive in a fast-paced kitchen setting, maintaining high standards of food quality, even during peak times.
Menu Input: Have the opportunity to contribute ideas and suggestions to the menu, bringing your creativity to the forefront.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a pub or similar setting.
- Culinary training or relevant certification.
- Knowledge of local produce and a commitment to using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
- Ability to work independently and handle the demands of a busy kitchen.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Creative flair and a passion for delivering high-quality, straightforward pub meals.
