As a House Manager you will be responsible for the welfare of the students. The role involves oversight of all aspects of the academic and personal life of each student within the House and, as a result, the House Manager is the focal point for all communication about the students in the House with teachers and parents. You will need to be highly attentive and well-organised in your approach to all welfare and pastoral issues as well as enthusiastic, sympathetic and flexible.

Desirable qualities: highly motivated, energetic, organised, caring with a genuine interest in our students’ lives and a spirit of internationalism. We are proud of our commitment to the ongoing professional development of our boarding staff to meet and exceed role requirements and offer, indeed require, regular training.

Working hours are 4.30pm until 9am Monday-Friday and 2pm until 9am at weekends. There is one day off per week (starting at 9am and finishing at 2pm/4.30pm the following day).

This position is salaried, paid pro rata on a term-time only basis except for shared half-term week duties (three half terms per year). Two weekends off are offered during the Autumn Term, and one in each of the Spring and Summer Terms (this consists of 2 consecutive nights, Friday and Saturday). You must be available for 48 hours before and after the start/ end of each term. Term dates are available on the website.

Start date: Summer Term 2021 - or ASAP

Some teaching could be available if you are able to offer a suitable subject.  Remuneration for teaching will be paid in addition to the House Manager role.  However, this is not a requirement for the role.

This position is residential and a furnished staff flat, with all rates and utilities paid, and term-time meals provided in our lovely dining hall.

Earlscliffe is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo full child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and an enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

We would be delighted to receive your application consisting of an introductory letter and the completed application form.  The application form is your opportunity to sell yourself so please provide a full description of your experience to date.  Please explain any gaps in your employment history.  Applications consisting of just a CV will not be considered.
